SUMMARY OF SIZE AND PACKING (WALL TILE)

CERAMIC/ PORCELAIN (SINGLE / DOUBLE FAST FIRED) WALL & FLOOR TILES LAYING INSTRUCTIONS

TILES CALCULATIONS FOR AREA

The size mentioned on boxes are approximate, please refer to dimension table for actual work size. Ensure to buy 10% extra tiles to cater cutting, and breaking etc. ITEM TONE & DIMENSION CODES

Always select the same item, tone and dimension code boxes for one selected area, which are mentioned in codes table of box as illustrated below

TONE CHECKING

Tone code on tile boxes must be same for one selected area. Lay at least to five square meters tiles without adhesive to ensure the uniformity of tone, and it should be continuous process in succession for whole area to be tiled. Variation in tone is one of the inherent characteristics in box/boxes with different shades must be separated for use elsewhere in cutting or skirting. Such kind of variation does not fall in complaints.

DIMENSION CHECKING

Ensure that dimensions mentioned on tile boxes are same for one selected area.

The checking procedure is mention above.

RECTIFIED TILES

While checking if one of more tiles appears different in dimension, these tiles should be readjusted with other tiles and keep rotating till its best adjustment.

Appropriate spacing at least 2-4mm is always recommended.

NON-RECTIFIED TILES

Dimension of one tile may vary to other, so these tiles must be installed with minimum 2-5mm gap the between them.

SUBSTRATES

The substrates must be absorbent, leveled, and stable without cracks and already have completed the curing period, and should be free from debris, greases and wax etc. never lay tiles on freshly cemented surface. Cemented surface should be prepared 24-36 hours before laying the tiles.

SOAKING

Ceramic/ Porcelain (single fast fired) tiles are not needed to be soaked before laying. Ceramic (double fast fired) tiles are needed to be soaked for min. 8-12 hours before laying.

AVOID MARKING

Do not mark the surface of tiles at any stage with pencils or indelible markers to avoid any kind of stains.

SPREADING ADHESIVE

Always lay tiles with adhesive paste (bond), not with cement paste/ slurry. Under the tile, thickness of paste should be ¾” of the tile’s thickness. Mortar should be spread on cemented surface rather than back of the tile with the help of notched trowel. Keep the distance of 2-3 days to dry the mortar before grouting.

SPACE

Always place the tile on leveled surface with 2-4mm space, so that the grouting material can properly penetrate between the tiles.

LEVELING

After placing the tiles, rubber hammer must be used for proper bedding.

OOZING

Oozing of extra adhesive between the tiles should be cleaned with nail before it dries (after 24 hours of tiles fixation).

CURING

After 12 hours from the installation it is needed to sprinkle water for 5 to 6 times within 36 hours. For more strength between this and adhesive then grout the tiles.

QUALITY GROUTING POWDER

For grouting always use quality grout. Inferior quality grout/ colored cement may effect the beauty of tiles, for which company is not responsible.

GROUTING

Spread the grout paste with spreader on the surface of tiled area. Use of grout sticker is better to ensure the grout penetration in to tile joints. Wipe away the excess grout immediately from tiles surface with a clean damp sponge and buff up the tiles with soft cloth. For grout curing sprinkling is required for 3-4 days.

CONTRAST/ DARK GROUTING

If you want contrast/ dark grouting in tile, please mask your tile with 2” paper tape surrounding specific area especially on Granite/ Porcelain tiles.

GROUT SEALER

Grout sealer is recommended to protect the grout.

CLEANING THE RESIDUES

Any traces of mortar, cement and working residues should be removed carefully by using appropriate remover.

FURTHER WORKING ON FLOOR

Cover the tiles with polyethylene sheet and ¾” thick layer of plaster of paris, if further working is required.

ROUTINE CLEANING

White vinegar or normal tile cleaners (available in market) with water dilution can be used to routine cleaning. Wax & oily soaps are not advised.

TO AVOID STAINS

Sudden fall of things that could create stains like tea, ink, oil etc must immediately be cleaned and washed away with fine detergent solutions (except hydrofluoric acid and other derivatives) available in the market for this purpose.

GLASS PORCELAIN (NANO POLISH)

This tile is for domestic use and to maintain its squeaky clean polish and beauty, it needs more care and cleanliness.

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Always stack the tiles vertically at dry and covered place, preferably tone and dimension wise
  • Immense care if taken to deliver the tiles during transportation Company is not responsible for breakage of tiles during transportation and loading/ unloading
  • Proper lighting arrangements at working place are advised to enhance the workmanship
  • Ceramic wall tiles (double fast fired) are mainly recommended for indoor wall applications, so avoid fixing these tiles in severe hot and cold weather places
  • Tile fixing is an art. Always fix tiles from a skilled person
  • Vibration and hammering near newly installed tiles can cause damage
  • Laying of tiles is advised after the completion of all other construction work in the area
  • The standard viewing distance of laid tiles is minimum 1.5 meters. Defects visible at this distance do not quality to be called defects & therefore do not fall under claims
  • Complaint for visible defects is only acceptable before tiles are laid
  • In case of claim, company will be bound to replace only defective tiles
  • By following the instruction given on the user manual, your problems and complains can be solved and entertained

The color shade or shades of all tiles vary some degree from piece to piece from each product run to run. At least several pieces from the same product run should be reviewed whenever possible determine acceptable color shade variation.

Any question or concerns about the tile selection should be clarified prior to be installing.

V1-UNIFORM APPEARANCE

Minimal to no difference among pieces form the same production run because each ceramic tile is manufactured using the same glaze application and body texture.

V2-SLIGHT VARIATION

Distinguishable differences in texture, pattern within similar color.

V3-MODERATE VARIATION

Though the colors present in a single piece of ceramic tile may indicate the colors to be expected on other tiles, the amount of colors on each piece may vary significantly.

V4-RANDOM OR DRAMATIC VARIATION

Random color variation from tile to tile, so that one ceramic tile may have a totally different color from that on other tiles, thus, the final installation will be unique.

Generally, variations in the surface color, texture and finish of walls, cellings, floors and roofs, and variations in glass and similar transparent materials are to be viewed where possible from a normal viewing position. A viewing position is looking at a distance from 1.5m or greater (600mm for appliances and texture) with the surface or material being illuminated by “non-critical light” means the light that strikes the surface is diffused ad is not glancing or parallel to that surface.

Slight variations in the color and finish of materials do not always constitute defect.
